Pandamonium!

Happy Friday all!

The project I am currently working on at the museum requires me to research a lot of different things, including different materials that objects are constructed from. There has been some on-going humour regarding bamboo from Papua New Guinea which has developed between my curator and myself, and since her birthday is coming up next month, I couldn't resist this cute little panda digi from Sliekje. I'm sure she will be 'bamboozled' by it lol!

Vintage BiPlane

And here I thought I had all of my May cards done, when I realised I had forgotten two - both of which are for men. I find, along with many others I am sure, that I struggle with masculine cards and layouts. However with this particular one, it seemed to take on a life of its own!

My First Ever Challenge Entry!!!

Hi all,

I am super excited! I have decided to try my hand at some card challenges.

I am entering:

The Whimsie Doodles April 2012 Monthly Challenge. The theme is Choose Your Own Adventure and I have chosen C:  Use an office supply AND lined paper on your project. As you can see below I have chosen a round/bulldog clip as my office supply, and added my sentiment on lined paper.

The Sketch and Stash Challenge 85. I am happy to be using my newest stash item which is the papers from Authentique (I brought them today as I loved the colours!) and my most neglected stash item is the round/bulldog clip. I brought these for $2 from my local variety store and haven't really found a project to use them on. So thanks Whimsie Doodles for the challenge!

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 213 Metallica! which features cards/creations that have a metal item on them, mine being the little heart brads and the round/bulldog clip.

AND

My Craft Spot - Monday Challenge #52 - Make It Pop! (I used dimensionals to raise both the butterfly circle and my little pencil pixie.)

Recipe Card:

Image: Pencil Pixie from Whimsie Doodles coloured with Distress Inks
Sentiment: 'Thinking of You' mini clear stamps from KaiserCraft.
Paper: Celebrate Collection from Authentique
Embellishments: Red satin ribbon; red chiffon ribbon; silver round/bulldog clip; small silver heart brads
Die: Spellbinders Nestabilities Butterflies Circles

Please be sure to head over to these wonderful blogs to check out past challenges, other entries, and of course, the amazing stamps and layouts on offer!

Puppy Love

Happy Monday all!

Just wanted to share with you my newest creation, made for my best friend's birthday in May. She has two energetic little Jack Russells who love to bite your toes and bounce into your arms. So I thought Sliekje's puppy with a rose would suit her perfectly. This is a free digital stamp and can be found at Sliejke's blog here: http://sliekje.blogspot.com.au/.

The paper is noir et blanc from Merci and the sentiment is from Stamp It. The image is printed on Arches watercolour paper and coloured with Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Broken China, Black Soot, Fired Brick, Tattered Rose, and Forest Moss.) The black card is embossed using Sizzix polka dot folder.

Stay tuned for more cards, and crafty tips for storage.

I Heart Easter

As I've gotten older, Easter has become less of an event for my family. I asked my family not to buy any chocolate eggs this year as they either all get eaten and go straight to my hips or end up in the pantry until next Easter, and I in turn, did not buy them anything.

My dad, sneaky thing that he is, asked me to order my mum's Easter present from Amazon this year. As such, I ordered it, paid for it, picked it up, and wrapped it. Suffice it to day, I couldn't do all this and NOT make a card!

So here it is, using the free digital stamp from the wonderful world of Whimsie Doodles, which can be found here: http://www.whimsiedoodles.com/freebies.html

I was a bit disappointed with the way her hair came out, as I was using a different application, but alas practice makes perfect. She is coloured using distress inks in pretty yellows and blues which is a refreshing change for me, as I tend to stick to purples and pinks.I decided to make an easel card which I really don't do enough of but always turn out amazing. The sentiment is from Desert Diva found here: http://desertdiva-hannelie.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/easter-sentiments.html

Hope you all had a lovely Easter. Now to work off that chocolate....
